WASHINGTON, D.C. – April 11, 2013
- Every thirteen to seventeen years they emerge from the ground, with their beady red eyes and winged bodies, flying through the air, congregating together while singing in chorus “chick, chick, chick.”
These are not monsters from a B-rated sci-fi movie – it’s the return of the Brood II Cicadas, expected to arrive to the Washington, D.C. area in May.
For guests looking to escape the invasion, the Lobby Lounge at The Ritz-Carlton, Washington, D.C. will offer a citrus-based cicada cocktail in tribute to the coming of these pesky critters.
The Cicada Soirée cocktail ingredients include Grey Goose L’Orange Vodka, fresh pineapple juice with a touch of Blue Curacao, shaken not stirred and served straight up in a martini glass garnished with a special chocolate shaped Cicada made by the hotels award winning pastry kitchen.
The Cicada Soiree cocktail and chocolate Cicada will be available in the hotel’s Lobby Lounge beginning May 1st through June 14th.
