Delicacies in the Air – The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai Introduces New Culinary Creations for Lufthansa’s Star Chefs Program

SHANGHAI, CHINA – September 1, 2012 – The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai is introducing new culinary creations for Lufthansa’s Star Chef Program 2012. Designed by the hotel’s very own Executive chef Steve Grein and Executive Chinese Chef Jackson Huang, the new culinary creations are offered to Lufthansa’s premium customers on the long-haul flights between China and Europe.

Starting September 1, passengers of Lufthansa's First and Business Class will enjoy the opportunity to taste the new delicacies in the sky as both chefs Grein and Huang have developed a unique menu of Chinese and Western cuisine for both Chinese and European guests.

American-born Executive Chef Steve Grein, with 16-years of experience, has won numerous accolades for his innovative culinary style. Following his graduation from L’Academie de Cuisine in Washington DC, Chef Grein commenced his working career in his home country before taking on new challenges overseas, including in the Southern Caribbean, Australia, The Middle East and China. Chef Grein first joined The Ritz-Carlton family in 2005 as Executive Chef.

Dedicated to creating different types of Chinese cuisine, with a strong focus on Shanghainese and Cantonese delicacies, Executive Chinese Sous Chef Jackson Huang brings a new level of excitement to oriental cuisine. Chef Huang has two decades of experience in the hospitality industry in Chinese and western cuisine, catering, commissary, culinary training and kitchen management. Chef Huang has served his culinary creations to 4 American Presidents and represented The Portman Ritz-Carlton, Shanghai to attend the National Black Box Cooking Competition.

The new Star Chefs program is available aboard all Lufthansa flights from China to Frankfurt and Munich from 1st September 2012. As the first European airline to bring the A380 to China, Lufthansa also operates daily flight between Beijing and Frankfurt.
