Discover a NEW Afternoon Tea Experience

Phoenix, Ariz. - January 18, 2011 – The Ritz-Carlton, Phoenix has showcased many different facets of Afternoon Tea over the years. Always rooted in the traditional English style, the presentation has evolved to include exclusive Jeffrey’s Tea blends, tea-infused vodka cocktails, and seasonal Tea-tinis. The latest in the Evolution of Tea will bring the service to an entirely new level of culinary uniqueness.

Beginning this week guests can partake in the New Afternoon Tea, which will bring changes to some of the most traditional aspects of their experience.

  • Culinary – Leading a current trend seen in many media outlets recently, the talented Ritz-Carlton, Phoenix Culinary Team has invented and will be featuring a new variety of tea-infused finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries. Cooking with tea is definitely the hot food topic for 2011.
  • Beverage – Guests will be introduced to a unique and enhanced variety of teas. Following the health and wellness trend in our society, herbal botanicals will be featured on the new tea list. This year the menu has bloomed to 24 different tea selections. Other rare white and oolong teas will accompany many of the classics to create a dynamic offering.
  • Menu Presentation – Even the menu itself is infused with tea. Using Jeffrey’s Signature Blends available only at The Ritz-Carlton, Phoenix, a custom paper maker has created a paper stock which is used for the menu covers. This is the first time the paper maker has used tea in the paper-making process adding to the innovation of this evolution of tea at the hotel.

After 11 years, the Afternoon Tea experience maintains its award-winning status at The Ritz-Carlton, Phoenix most recently being named as the Best Tea Spot by the readers of Arizona Foothills Magazine. This time-honored tradition is no longer the stuffy afternoon service that people associate with the past. With continuous innovation and enhancement to the presentation, it is no wonder that the hotel remains a true trend setter in the food & beverage/tea industry.

“This is the perfect blend of old world elegance paired with a flare of new world sophistication,” says Jeffrey Hattrick, the Ritz-Carlton Tea Maitre d’. “The new presentation is an amazing culinary experience…and all found in dainty tea fare.” Guests will also be surprised to see Jeffrey’s new look to be a cross of Humphrey Bogart and James Bond.
