Jakarta, May 2008 – We often hear the saying of home is where the heart is, but few understand that better than The Ritz-Carlton, Jakarta. Having constructed nearly 500 homes in Jakarta to date, together with Habitat for Humanity Indonesia, The Ritz-Carlton, Jakarta is inviting the society to be part of Join the B.O.S.S (Building on Saturdays or Sundays) as an extraordinary program that brings volunteers and future homeowners together on the weekends to construct houses.

Join The B.O.S.S is a social initiative that invites hotel guests and public to spend together their Saturday or Sunday with The Ritz-Carlton Ladies & Gentlemen to build homes and shelters for the less fortunate community in Jakarta. Guests will be able to get physically involved as volunteer labor and taking part in building houses or shelters on their Saturdays or Sundays to help the underprivileged on building proper homes for families living in slums and combating poverty housing in Jakarta. Basic constructional activities such as painting, carpeting, installing windows or door frames, house ceiling, layering bricks, tiling and many more will be conducted together lead and at the same time educate by the construction experts from Habitat for Humanity.

Join The B.O.S.S is inviting all guests with or without specific constructional skills, as we believe that if we could hold a hammer or a paintbrush, then surely we all could help assuring a future that holds more promise for the homeless and those living in substandard housing.

Join The B.O.S.S will give back a life-transforming experience for the guests as labor volunteers and for the families whose homes they help built. Working side by side with Habitat for Humanity Indonesia, Join The B.O.S.S will support the community in fighting millions of home poverties in Jakarta, build a home and build back a life.

Join The B.O.S.S has been successfully implemented for four times in 2008: Saturday, 29 March, 3 May, 2 August and 13 December in Kosambi Village in Tangerang and Suka Karya Village in Bekasi; and it will be continued again in 2009 on six-day schedule options: Saturday, 28 February, 25 April, 27 June, 29 August, 17 October and 12 December.
